Annually, the NEC elects an executive board, composed of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors who serve for one academic year. The NEC executive board reviews applications for new general body members, who serve throughout their undergraduate career at Penn, at the start of the fall semester.
General Body
Aaron Dannenbaum
It's nice to be a part of the NEC
Since I'm such a big fan of PSG
In case you're wondering, my last name starts with a D
Not all poems have to rhyme.
Alec Barnes
My name is Alec.
I like to run,
and I think NEC…
is lots of fun!
Ariela Cohen
VC for Elections ('11–'12)My name is Ari and I like PPE
Cali’s my home and I’m an OG
If you have any questions come ask me
You’ll have a sick nasty time at the NEC
Aubrey Vinh
The name’s Aubrey but you can call me Aubz,
My least favorite food is corn on cobs,
That’s ironic cause I’m a corny person,
Out of ideas so this poem will worsen,
Always sunny in Philly or so they say,
Don’t know if that’s true but have a nice day!
Ben Gitles
Haikus are easy.
Sometimes they don't make much sense.
Refrigerator.
Charles Burke
Christi Economy
Hilo, Hawaii is where I am from.
It’s really quite beautiful, so you should come.
Yes. My last name is Economy, really.
No. I’m not in Wharton, silly.
Everyone asks me that all the time.
So when you’re about to keep that in mind.
I love nice people so smile at me.
Here’s to a wonderful time on the NEC!
Dan Blas
My name is Dan Blas.
Some call me DB
I'm in the 2015 class
I'm from NYC.
Don't give me no sass
And don't hate on me.
You know that I'm not crass--
I'm on the NEC!
Danielle Rosen
I hail from Allentown
And you will very rarely see me frown.
Tennis is my game
I love NEC and for that I feel no shame.
David Aron
Devin Grossman
Hey my name is Devin,
Getting ready for the next 4 years of heaven
Coming from the great NJ,
If you see me on Locust, be sure to say hey.
We’re going to have such a great time
As I mix and match trying to make these words rhyme.
I love being a part of the NEC
You know that’s where you wanna be.
Elizabeth Oppong
Life has been a blast
since joining the NEC.
We play hard but work harder
for fairness on PSG.
Gianni Mascioli
Great at hula-hoop
I'm known as spaghetti legs
Allergic to cashews cats and crabs
NEC is super.
Never left the country except once
It took me five months to write this very mediocre acrostic.
Jennica Reichert
VC for Admin & Finance ('11–'12)I'm from PA.
Where it rains here all day.
Sike! Not really!
I'm a little bit silly
Now Philly's my home,
NEC like a family,
or sorority or frat?
Who cares which it is?!
UPENN's where its at!
Jeremy Brinster
VC for Publicity ('10–'11)I hail from the luscious garden state,
From the town of the Ivy that's second rate.
I'm often sarcastic,
My rhymes are fantastic.
Insomnia cookies are great.
Johnny Schaefer
My name is Johnny and I'm from Colorado,
and I say tomato, instead of tomato.
I'm excited to be here at Upenn,
an exciting place where I never have been.
Now I'm a part of the ol' NEC,
and NEC is a part of me!
Julie Clanahan
The name is JCLAN,
And I always have a plan.
I'm going for pre-med,
That's what's up in my head.
Now NEC at Penn,
Please, can I get an AMEN.
Justin Levin
The NEC is all about being just,
That is why my names is Justin,
Our body revolves around discretionary trust,
Believe me, in our secretive meetings there is no angel dust,
We sit and revise the FPC to make sure it wont be rustin’,
The NEC is all about being just,
If shared our secrets I would surly combust,
I would get thrown in a loony bin,
Our body revolves around discretionary trust,
With out us the UA would turn into radioactive dust,
They need NEC to be survivin’,
The NEC is all about being just.
So that is my poem, hopefully it is not a bust,
But I know the other NECers will be lustin’,
Our body revolves around discretionary trust,
The NEC is all about being just.
Justin Moore
VC for Nominations ('10–'11)Justin hails from sunny Central NJ,
where he ate, slept, and lived in the New Jerseyan way.
Now, he makes his home right here in Philly,
at the wonderful U of Penn, studying Biology,
and is living the life of luxury,
on the illustrious, absurdly good looking NEC.
Karen Sun
I hail from the renowned "Colle Park"
but my booty is not of the size loved by Bubba Sparx.
Yes I own cowboy boots and love Taylor Swift,
but Philly and NYC are my true loves, if you catch my drift.
I'm sorry this poem is so bad,
but poetry was a gift I never had.
I love shoes and I love to party,
and that is why I love NEC and the glorious university of Penn.
Because we work hard, and party hearty,
and with us, the fun never ends!
Kate Goldenberg
With the NEC I am ready to celebrate
As a member, I expect Penn we will innovate
Oh I forgot to mention, my name is Kate
I guess being short is my fate
5 feet flat-- but please don’t hate
Hailing from suburban Philly- so PA’s my state
Though ancient Rome and Greece are straight…
up awesome-Come on people, Alexander the Great and Caesar, city state?
But sad to say I’ve yet to discover something to equate
To Pinkberry and tennis and, oh, I don’t procrastinate
I like to create, debate and pretzels and mustard make me salivate
Internet ordering with free freight is first rate
And as for my writing goofy poems, well, I suggest you find someone else to imitate.
Lyndsey Wheeler
There once was a gal named Lynds,
Who danced ballet and played violins,
Came from the burbs of DC,
To Penn’s own NEC,
This is where her story begins.
Mallika Vinekar
I believe oatmeal is way underrated,
There’s no episode of "The Office" I’ve ever hated,
I tend to be rather beastly at Taboo,
I’m always down for a pomegranate, sometimes two.
Matt Herling
I’m from New Jersey, the great garden state
I’m so happy NEC Membership was my fate
I can’t wait to explore Penn and the entire city
I hope you think my poem was kind of witty
Morgan Finkelstein
VC for Education ('11–'12), VC for Admin & Finance ('10–'11)I'm from SRQ,
now live in the nip,
nso was a a trip,
I'm a Jew.
rep NEC through and through.
wear my flops that flip
being short is hip
cuz you know how it do.
bbm me all day
feed me trail mix
i could go for fro-yo.
go out of my way
for giggles and kicks
NEC off we go!
Patrick Ford-Matz
Leaving my home in the state of Connecticut,
Learning the ropes and the old Quaker etiquette,
I'm making my mark with the great NEC
The best-looking branch of our big PSG.
Now I know we'll succeed, above all the rest,
Because "here and everywhere, boldest is best."
Yamini Nabar
I hail from a town that's called Short Hills
In suburban New Jersey, you won't find thrills
I lived in London for a year or two
I'm obsessed with music and high heeled shoes
I'm excited for Penn and the NEC
It's always a party in PSG
